Banner

Remember my earlier post about the Imperia? Well, here's a banner I later spotted in town. Would love to have one to hang in my house. :-)

Zeppelin

Graf Zeppelin Monument
Constance, Germany

"On 2 July 1900, Zeppelin made the first flight with the LZ 1 over Lake Constance near Friedrichshafen in southern Germany. The airship rose from the ground and remained in the air for 20 minutes, but was damaged on landing. After repairs and some modifications two further flights were made by LZ 1 in October 1900, However the airship was not considered successful enough to justify investment by the government, and since the experiments had exhausted Count Zeppelins funds, he was forced to suspend his work." ~ Wikipedia

Council Building

Bike stand in front of what was the Council Building in Constance, Germany, used for the Council of Constance, the 15th century ecumenical council recognized by the Roman Catholic Church, held from 1414 to 1418. The council ended the Western Schism, by deposing or accepting the resignation of the remaining papal claimants and electing Pope Martin V. The building has been put to a number of uses since. It's now used as a guest house.

Lindt

The only time when I've ever seen more chocolate in one place than at Lindt's in Zürich was when I went to visit the Hershey's Chocolate Factory in Pennsylvania years ago when you could still tour the actual factory.

I'm on the road again, so I will not be posting or commenting for a while. When I get back, I'll have still more pics from Switzerland to share.

Fish Clock

Fraümunster
Zürich, Switzerland

The fish are rather magical, don't you think? I mean, whatever possessed someone to put fish on a clock tower? And why? Not sure I understand the date either, since the abbey itself dates to the middle of the 9th century. Maybe someone out there in cyber-land can tell me. :-)
