Wedding party awaiting he bride to emerge from Zürich's town hall.

Sunday, July 24, 2016

Anyway. . . back to the wedding party. :-) It got my attention again as the bubbles began to fly here in what used to be the Benedictine abbey.

Carving II

If yesterday's carving was of a baker or marketer, as William suggested, what kind of laborer do you suppose this fellow represents?

I rather suppose this figure and another one that I'll share tomorrow were carved on the walls of the town hall to depict various past citizens of Zürich at their work.

A Toast!

The fellow to the left kicking back a glass of bubbly, is about to get married. Kind of funny that he was celebrating with other members of the wedding party on the site that used to be a nunnery between the Fraumünster and what is now Zürich's town hall. You can see portions of Bodmer's fresco behind them.

I'm sorry I arrived too early to attend any of these concerts scheduled for the Fraumünster in June. The church, by the way, is perhaps now best known for its stained glass windows by Marc Chagall.

Literally, "Zürich dances here! Venue." And I later saw a couple of young women more or less just spontaneously begin to dance as they reached the spot. Hey! I guess if the spirit moves you. . . :-)

Zürich, Switzerland

Frankly, this could have been a picture taken almost anywhere. Nothing special about it all except that it serves as yet another example of the charming way that residents cheer up the exteriors of their homes. Could be a practical way, too. Could they be herbs for the kitchen?

Zürich, Switzerland

You might understand if I told you my first thought that this was a veterinary clinic specializing in cats. Right :-)

I'll admit I was mesmerized by these bouquets of flowers in a shop in Zürich's old town and spent an inordinate amount of time trying to capture them on camera.
